Searchlight

And so I fell out,
And tripped and ran,
And dripped and poured,
Until, little by little,
I was all gone.

You shone your searchlight,
But avoiding such beams,
I was not there,
And could not see,
What anyone could do.

You shone your searchlight,
Again and again,
And again.

Until, little by little,
The mercury collected,
And clocks,
That had known only one way,
Ran backwards.

And once more,
A face appeared above the covers,
To see that you are there for me,
And realise that I, I am here for you.
