Searchlight

And so I fell out,
And tripped and ran,
And dripped and poured,
Until, little by little,
I was all gone.

You shone your searchlight,
But avoiding such beams,
That light was not for me,
I was not there,
And could not see,
What anyone could do.

You shone your searchlight,
Again and again,
And again,
Until, little by little,
The mercury collected,
And clocks,
That had only known one way,
Ran backwards,
And once more,
A face appears above the covers,
To see,
To see that you are there for me,
And I, I am here for you.
